Honey Ginger Glazed Chicken Wings

Honey Ginger Glazed Chicken Wings

Honey Ginger Glazed Wings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs party wings (about 12 wings)

  • 2 tbsp of your favorite wing seasoning (we used a chili onion with Szechuan pepper blend)

  • 1 tsp kosher salt, plus more for the glaze

  • 1/2 cup Honey Ginger White Balsamic vinegar

  • 1/2 to 1 tbsp gochujang paste, to taste or omit

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds, for garnish

  • Carrots, celery, and your favorite dipping sauce, for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel. This is an important step that helps ensure crispy skin. In a large bowl, toss the wings with the wing seasoning and 1 teaspoon(adjust for taste) of kosher salt until evenly coated. For the best flavor, let the wings marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours, or even overnight if you have time.

2. Grill the wings: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375-400°F). Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. Place the wings on the grill, close the lid, and cook for 20-25 minutes, turning every 5-7 minutes. The wings are done when the skin is golden and crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

3. Make the glaze: While the wings are on the grill, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the Honey Ginger White Balsamic vinegar, gochujang paste(adjust for spice level or omit), and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture to a low simmer over medium-low heat. Let it gently bubble and reduce for about 10 minutes, or until the liquid has thickened to a syrupy consistency. It should coat the back of a spoon.

4. Glaze and serve: Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the warm glaze over the wings and toss until they are thoroughly coated. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately with fresh carrots, celery, and your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips and Enhancements

  • Crispier Skin: For even crispier wings, you can cook them in an air fryer or oven instead of a grill. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F and cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. For the oven, preheat to 400°F, place the wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet, and bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping them halfway through.

  • Gochujang: The gochujang adds a wonderful fermented chili flavor and a touch of heat. If you're a fan of a spicier kick, feel free to add a bit more. If you prefer a milder flavor, you can use less or even substitute with sriracha or another chili paste.

  • Fresh Ginger: For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger to your glaze.

  • Finish with Salt: A little pinch of flaky sea salt sprinkled over the wings after you toss them in the glaze can really make the flavors pop.
